Qualifying Event: Friday 2nd July 2010
The Financial Times Business Championship visited Kingsbarns Golf Links for the 6th event in the 2010 series. Competitors enjoyed a gloriously sunny day at the stunning course, situated just outside St Andrews, and a cool breeze provided a good test of golf.
Early starters RF Fielding posted a fantastic score of 84 points to go straight to the top of the leaderboard, where they remained through the competition. RF Fielding will go through to the expenses paid Grand Finals at Quinta do Lago's Laranjal Course in October.
Second place was closely contested with four teams finishing on 75 points, forcing a card playoff. Hen House Wholesale had the highest pairs score of 41 points which gave them a 2nd place finish. With Tangible Group and Bairds Malt both scoring exactly the same points in each of their pairs, the tournament referee retired to a quiet corner to do the maths. Tangible Group emerged in 3rd place, having scored a higher number of points on stroke index holes 1,2,3,16,17 and 18 and Bairds Malt finished 4th.
The top 3 teams all received prizes from the luxury Inkerman Crystal Collection.
The Longest Drive competition was won by Rosemary Johnson of the Bairds Malt team. Nearest the Pin was won by Phil Kennedy from Tangible Group. Rosemary and Phil were awarded with a Callaway Diablo Hybrid and an Odyssey Backstryke Putter respectively.
Thank you to all the teams who took part in the day including Darchem Engineering, Jaguar and Career Associates.
